About

Christina Schuster is a postgraduate student at the English and American Studies Department at the University of Vienna in Austria, where she has obtained a BA in English and American Studies, and an MA in Anglophone Literatures and Cultures with an exchange at Georgetown University (Washington D.C., US).

In her BA and MA her research interests have been concerned with contemporary North American literature and the environment, and a particular focus on disaster and apocalypse. Currently, Christina is working on her PhD project “Marveling at Darcy Lewis: examining representations of gender, sex/uality, and identity in Avengers fanfiction” which ties into her previous fascination with space. Moving from ecocritical readings of landscapes and surroundings, her dissertation is going to consider fanfiction as a representational realm for discourses on gender, sex/uality, and identity.
